What is a DMIR?

A DMIR is a Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative appointed by the FAA’s Manufacturing Inspection District Office (MIDO) to issue certain FAA certificates of airworthiness on specified groups of products. The products are restricted by the governing MIDO to those on which the DMIR has experience in the production systems specific to the parts to be certified and in the manufacturer’s PMA quality system. The DMIR must have many years of experience in these areas before being considered for appointment by the FAA.

What is a DER?

A DER is a Designated Engineering Representative selected and appointed by the FAA’s Aircraft Certification Office (ACO) to review, approve, or recommend approval by the ACO of technical data and service documents for specified systems and mechanical equipment. The data are those which are used in the qualification testing and/or specifications of aircraft parts. The DER must demonstrate an extensive background in degreed engineering, aviation design experience and quality system.

What is FAA-PMA?

The FAA's Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) is the certification by the FAA of the quality system of a manufacturer that is required for aftermarket parts sales by Production Approval Holders (PAH’s). These standards are applicable to all aircraft parts manufacturers and ensure that aircraft parts are produced as designed and are safe to operate. FAA’s PMA regulatory system holds the aftermarket PAH’s to the same high FAA quality standards as the OEM’s.

What is a coalescer?

Coalescing filters are an enabling component of the environmental air system that removes water and particles from the compressed bleed air prior to distribution into the aircraft cockpit and cabin. They are each uniquely designed to meet the air flow requirements of each aircraft type.

What is HEPA?

HEPA refers to an air filtration standard of the removal of 99.97% of particles of 0.3 microns from air by a filter. The 0.3 micron size is chosen since it is the hardest size particle for a filter to remove and ensures that particles of other sizes in the same air stream are removed at a higher efficiency.

What is HEPA-antimicrobial?

In addition to HEPA filtration, Keddeg’s HEPA-Antimicrobial filters provide the added benefit of an antimicrobial agent which is added into the filter media during manufacturing and will inhibit the growth of micro-organisms such as bacteria, fungi, parasites, and select viruses.

What is an E/E filter?

Electronic equipment cooling filters are designed to remove harmful contaminates from the cooling air used to maintain avionics equipment.
